Do toddler and kid's shoes use the same sizing scale?

I need someone to answer this who has kids! Someone gave my son a pair of size 5 rain boots, but they seem bigger than his size 5 shoes. He is 18 months. Are there different scales for toddlers vs kids shoes? Thanks!

Do toddler and kid%26#039;s shoes use the same sizing scale?
Yes there are different scales for toddlers and kids shoes. Toddler shoes are 1-13 and then there are kids sizes in the same labeled sizes but much bigger.
Reply:I beleive so there are two scales I think Wen they are babies to toddlers they go by months or days old then when they become kids it is another scale I do not know what that one is but there is a scale measuring device at most shoe stores That is all I know hahaha That is shoe Busness!
Reply:Kid size shoes are adult size shoes. You only have toddler (aka baby) size 1-13 and adult (aka kid/adult) size 1- really big!!! Also to remember that different brands are different sizes thats why we have to try on shoes. Also maybe the boots go over existing shoes???
Reply:oh may a kids size 5 would be a whole lot bigger than a kids size 5, i wear kids size 5 runners and I am 25 so yes to answer your question there is different sizes
Reply:Yes, a toddle shoe size changes every three months until they are around 3-4 years. During the first five years of the child%26#039;s life is the most grow rate. When they reach 5 years, they growth slows down. Measuring a toddler%26#039;s foot size depends on length, balance, width, shape (which changes) how they stand, how they walk, tiptoes or heal to toe. I would take the boots to the shoe store I buy their shoes and ask the sales person to determine if the used shoe fits my toddler or may cause harm. personally, I never allowed my toddler%26#039;s to were used shoes, because their growth is too important and changes every three months.
