Can rainboots serve as deckboots?

I%26#039;m not quite an avid fisher, and I prefer the rubber soles of deck boots, but without having to shell out upwards of $50 for deck boots, am I safe using regular rain boots? Or do the soles have to be smooth instead?

Can rainboots serve as deckboots?
If you%26#039;re on a good-sized party or charter boat, traction isn%26#039;t really a problem. (I%26#039;ve seen people out there ruining perfectly good leather dress shoes, but unless the boat was really pitching, slipping wasn%26#039;t a problem.)

I think the main reason deck boots are more expensive is for being better able to stand up to salt water. If you%26#039;re not out there a lot, rain boots should work just fine. Just rinse them with fresh water afterwards and they should last longer.
Reply:Deck boots should have a white sole so as to not mark the deck

Overshoes are not the best. You want to be able to kick them off if you fall overboard.
Reply:Yup
