What do I need to take with me when I move to Houston this summer?!?!?

I live in Southern California right now and will be moving to Houston this summer for law school (South Texas College of Law). I've heard the summers are very hot and humid and that there are also lots of thunderstorms with crazzzzzy rain!

My sister's friend said that I should take tall boots, because when it rains, its floods and I'll get water in my shoes! I'll be living around the downtown/Midtown area. You think it's really that bad? Do you think I'm gonna need a super duper strong umbrella? I'll just die if my books get wet!!!

If there's anything else you think I'll need in Houston, please let me know! Thanks! :o)

It's not that bad! Sure sometimes it rains...sometimes it rains hard....but nobody wears rainboots. It does get hot and sometimes humid, but that's when you see people out at the pool or beach, or cooped up inside with the a/c
Reply:This is easy cause I live in Houston, Texas :) For summer, you should take some sunscreen, shorts, t-shirts, a thin jacket, some joggin pants or jeans, and if it rains, and umbrella, you can wear shoes, but boots can be okay. But you can put your books in like a bag or something, but it will be really hot in summer.
Reply:It does get very hot and humid in the summer, but the good thing about that is that it delays you getting wrinkles. No, you don't need rain boots even though the thunderstorms do get a little crazy. And use a backpack for your books. It's really not that bad, there's AC everywhere you go so it shouldn't be a problem. Good luck.
