I camped 13 days in the Rocky Mountains carrying tent, clothes, etc. My best advice is to make some items do double-duty.Don't bring 4 towels, bring 2 and hang them to dry.Get it all together and see what you can "trade" out or eliminate. You will need to get "travel" size soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.Lots of things come small and are perfect for this.Shampoo mail samples are perfect example.Tear them open, throw them away.Get a cheap, plastic "poncho",pack more socks than you think. The list is a guideline. It says "be prepared for rain, wet, cold,or hot weather" basically.Like I said--get it all together and see what you can do to make it smaller. It ALL adds up--so be thorough.Have fun---good luck.
Reply:The easiest way would be to put all this stuff in a large plastic tote, with a lid. This way you can drag everything wherever you need to and it stays nice clean and dry
Reply:buy urself as military duffle bag, there alot easier to carry and hold alot of things, plus u can get them at a used miltary store cheap..
Reply:Lighten up on the clothes (sleep in a pair of long johns). One pair of jeans, one long-sleeve shirt/sweatshirt, preferably a weather resistant coat with a zip out liner that you can take out if it's not too cold. One good pair of boots and a pair of sandals or sneakers ought to do it. Take a sack to throw dirty clothes in and forgo the pillow by using that as a pillow. - - - If you're going to hike a couple miles, then every ounce you can reduce your pack by is going to be worth "roughing it" a little.
Reply:Mabe you could get a lift off a mate.

Maybe use maybe 1 or two wheelie suitcases. other wise use a big back pack
Reply:You could leave the sheet, since you have the sleeping bag

Leave one pair of shoes, might help a little bit.

The jackets, hats and mittens might be worth looking at again.

Seems like over kill on the pants long and short, also shirts.
