With Bush wanting to veto all Democrat Bills, Should the dems just REJECT FUNDING this illegal war?

You've got my vote. I'm sick of his childish tactics. If he doesn't like the restrictions placed on him by the law, he just declares himself above the law. It's the most unAmerican thing anyone has ever done. And I'm COUNTING Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols in that.
Reply:Clinton vetoed 37 bills while he was president. But, the government survived and a compromise was eventually worked out. If the Democrats can come up with any bills that are not simply Parisan grandstanding, I am sure the President will sign them.

You seem to miss the fact that the Democrats will NOT simply stop funding our efforts in Iraq because then they would OWN the results - the civil war, the civilian deaths, the increased terrorism, etc that would be the aftermath of a childish and ill-conceived withdrawal.





Why do you think they've not done this? Because they are too morally craven to put their political careers at risk to take an action that may backfire on them. So they craft idiotic, timetabled funding laws that are sure to be vetoed, in an attempt to eat their cake and have it too.





It may fool the weak-minded and the self-delusional, but nobody of any sentience would fail to see the disgusting game they are playing.

The Congress wants some oversight on Bushies boys little war - and some benchmarks and some time limits. The little tyrant thinks he is the King of All Things but they WILL stop the funding if they have to.





That's what finally put an end to the Vietnam War. Congress funded a 60-day time period and told the president that all troops needed to be out of Vietnam by that time because there would be no more money after that. You can't fight a war without the money - and, thank goodness, Congress holds the purse strings.
