Boot camp in the winter?

just wondering how its gonna be shipping off to boot camp in the winter. im sure they will not provide heaters for the night time sleeping. that would be my main problem, but what can i expect in winter training, it will proly rain a lot so what happens on a rainy day. and other cold weather times during boot camp.im thinking i should have waited till spring to enlist now.

Boot camp in the winter?
Army?? Where are you going? When I went it was in the summer to Ft Benning and a dude in our platoon died of a heat stroke. Winters are probably better. they give you plenty of stuff to keep warm anyways...you'll bet beanies, sweats, glove etc for PT and winter uniforms and longjohns.
Reply:Not sure when anyone else on here was at Basic? I was in the U.S. Army. I went to Basic in March 1991. We went to the field for 7 days, it rained 4 out of 7 days. You will have a poncho and your tent but that is about it. We dug fox holes and they filled with water, we were still suppose to get in them. It was cold at night and warm in the day time. At night when it rained we got soaking wet. We peed behind trees and only had MRE's to eat for 6 days. The last day in the field we had a hot meal. I also hope you like to be dirty and stink. Cause I am a female and I didn't have a shower for a week. Talk about rank. lol If you don't like rain, snow etc. I think you better go in the summer time. In the field you aren't going to have a heater. Believe me.
Reply:if your going to army, airforce or marine boot camp you'd be fine. if your going to a navy boot camp which is in great lakes, and it's going to be cold (snow) and arctic air. go in the spring.
Reply:if you love winter youll be fine..just have the kind of mentality that your going to get through it..youll be provided with military clothing and equipment..pretty standard..but a hell of a lot more improved materials these days..youll be fine..its actually adventurous and fun...and alot of experience come out of it..getting fit and learning tactics and different monouvers..and drills...may god be with you x
Reply:Your health needs will be met. That includes keeping you warm enough to function properly. You'll spend most of your off-duty time in the barracks, which are heated. When it rains, you will train wearing proper foul weather gear. Battle does not cease when it starts to rain! You must learn to take proper care of yourself and your equipment in all sorts of weather. And you will - your drill instructors are the best in the world. They will not make it easy on you, but their goal is to see to it that you survive combat while your country's enemies do not.
Reply:Go to Paris Island. The weather is fairly year round.
Reply:Helpful to know the service. Some spend more time outdoors than others.

But you are probably better off in the snow than the heat...depending on location too. Chicago might not be the place to be in February.

They do try to take care of their people though.
Reply:It's going to be so much better in the winter time because you won't have to be running and working out in 110 degree weather.

It will be a lot easier on you in the winter. It won't be so hot in the barracks try to sleep. You can just put on your long johns while you sleep and you will have other cold weather clothes.

You picked the best time to go.
